  NTA News is reporting that the Nigerian Health Minister Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu has confirmed the death of the second Ebola victim. She was a Nigerian nurse who came  in contact with late Liberian-American Ebola victim Patrick Sawyer. “Nigeria has now recorded 7 confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVB).” Chukwu said. Those who have died include the “index patient” – Patrick who got the virus from his sister and a nurse who treated him. “All the Nigerians diagnosed with EBV were primary contacts” of Patrick Sawyer, the minister added.

  A Saudi Arabian man who was being tested for Ebola died suddenly today. The man was suspected to have contracted the virus  during a recent business trip to Sierra Leone, Baltimore Sun reports. World Health Organization-certified i nternational laboratories and Saudi authorities were conducting tests on the man, after he showed symptoms of viral hemorrhagic fever. The country’s health ministry says it is working to track the man’s travel route to identify other people he was in contact with. For me i think fighting this Ebola virus has gone beyond closing borders to the infected countries but  a global treaty to fight it before it goes beyond control.

President Jonathan today officially launched and obtained the new 64-page e-passport. According to presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati; "The new 64-pg e-passport helps frequent travelers, it's gender friendly, forestalls identity theft, cheaper for the aged and low income earners, conforms with international best practices." "Cost of new e-passport for below 18yrs and 60 years and above is N8,750; change of name as a result of marriage or divorce is also N8,750 "The existing e-passport is 32pp; new one is 64pp but it is strictly for frequent travelers. Please note, it does not invalidate the 32 pp"
