Designer Of Nigerian Flag To Get Lifetime Salary

 The designer of the Nigerian national flag, Mr. Taiwo Akinkunmi has been hired as an aide to President Goodluck Jonathan and has also been placed on a lifetime salary
President GEJ has honored the designer of the Nigerian flag, Mr. Taiwo Akinkunmi. Akinkunmi was yesterday, September 29, 2014, employed as a Special Assistant to the President and placed on a lifetime salary.
 President Jonathan reportedly directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to ensure that
“Akinkunmi is placed on the salary of a Special Assistant to the President forever”.
The honour was announced as Jonathan was delivering his speech during the conferment of National Awards on 313 individuals in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Akinkunmi designed the flag in 1958, 2 years before Nigeria gained independence and the colors, white and green, symbolize peace and agriculture respectively.

Naira now 241 against US$1

  The naira hit another record low of N241 against the dollar at the parallel market on Monday as the Central Bank of Nigeria’s restrictions on foreign exchange sale fuelled unofficial trade in dollars, Reuters reported. Financial experts say the ban placed by CBN on importers from accessing Nigerian foreign exchange markets for the importation of 41 items has led to the volatility of the Naira-Dollar exchange rate at the black market.
